HBO delves into renowned salsa singer-songwriter’s life in the documentary RUBÉN BLADES IS NOT MY NAME

MIAMI, FL., March 13, 2019 – HBO presents a close-up look into the life and music of beloved singer-songwriter Rubén Blades in the documentary RUBÉN BLADES IS NOT MY NAME. The film premieres in the Caribbean on Monday, March 25, only on HBO and HBO GO. Times per country, hbomax.tv

Directed by Panamanian director Abner Benaim, RUBÉN BLADES IS NOT MY NAME goes behind the scenes to explore Blades’ story, legacy and songs through interviews with the singer himself, as well as other artists including Sting, Paul Simon, Residente, Gilberte Santa Rosa, Junot Díaz, Larry Harlow, Danilo Pérez, Ismael Miranda and Andy Montañez.

With eight Grammys® and five Latin Grammy® awards, Blades is considered an icon in his native Panamá, and his music has been admired by fans in Latin America and all over the world with hits including “Pedro Navaja” and “El Cantante” which was made famous by Puerto Rican artist Hector Lavoe.
