Buenos Aires, June 28, 2022 - On July 17, 'MARÍA MARTA: THE COUNTRY CLUB CRIME' arrives on HBO Max; the new HBO original series based on the true story of the crime of María Marta García Belsunce, which occurred in Argentina in 2002. A local production that brings to the screen from fiction and with a new vision, one of the most shocking cases in Argentina. The long-awaited production will be available in its entirety on HBO Max and can also be seen weekly on HBO.
On October 27, 2002, María Marta García Belsunce was found lifeless by her husband, Carlos Carrascosa, in the bathroom of their home located in an exclusive gated community in the province of Buenos Aires. What at first appeared to be a domestic accident, became one of the most emblematic crimes in Argentina. After the murder, both her husband, Carlos Carrascosa, and her entire family become suspects. The crime puts the Argentine justice system in check: prosecutors, judges, journalists and society debate who killed María Marta. The husband faces a stigma that will haunt him for a long time, but he is surprisingly supported by two people outside the family, who without any apparent interest, believe in him and take the lead in a parallel investigation.
